Excellent for line, especially when sharpened
Famous carres crayons - harder and a little more abrasive than thicker, softer pastels, so not as easy to use to block in large areas with rich hues. Excellent for finer drawing, line/contour, especially when sharpened with a blade, sandpaper or combination of both. Comes in a very wide range of attractive colours and values. Highly recommended for those interested in drawing in pastel but find soft pastels too dusty, messy or imprecise. For me personally, maximum usefulness when used in combination with soft pastels to get a very wide range of effects. Be sure to use on paper with the best tooth.
