Reeves deep edged canvas with no staples on the side enabling the artist to paint the sides which eliminates the frame. Reeves canvas are a medium grain 100% cotton canvas. They are acrylic double primed and acid free and are suitable for oil and acrylics.

I like the heavy physical weight of the frame and the canvas. But that will work against you if you have to ship the finished work outside Ireland.
The actual canvas is very similar to the "Winsor" deep-edge canvases. The grain is coarser than you might expect for what is described as "medium grain" but I like that in the larger sizes.
The edges are very sharp, which I really like. That makes it easy to edge neatly, for instance with black paint, without the edging intruding into the painting.
The only drawback is that the largest size (30x40 inches) is a bit smaller than I often want.
These canvases are always straight and true, have never warped on me and have no serious defects in the canvas. |
